Another chilly day in Chateauneuf-Du-Pape. We had another fine breakfast with our host Brigitte. She is wonderful and amazing. She comes from a wine family in the village. We learned so much more about the wine here and the history behind it. No wonder it is some of the best wine in the world. But off we go to new adventures. We head to a 2000 year old village called Les Baux de Provence. What we saw was totally unexpected. Rocky, mountainous, and very high. Stunning actually.

We drive through many other charming villages in our way to Aix-en-Provence. I had heard and read about this for years and was excited to get there. Truly, our first disappointment. It is a very large city with many universities. Big, bustling and honestly ugly. We didn’t stay long. We picked a coastal town called Cassis to head to next. Let me tell you how exciting it was to turn a corner and see the Mediterranean!! Big, blue and beautiful. The weather warmed up substantially. We sat at a restaurant on the water and ate Mussels and drank Rose’.
Again, on the fly, we found a condo in Bandol to spend a few nights. Lovely.

We picked up some more amazing wine and stopped at street vendor for what we thought were steak sandwiches. Turns out, they were hamburger and frites on a baguettes. With goat cheese! Yummmmmmmmmm. We ate them on our terrace. Perfect.
